Software Engineer with Solid Indexing System Experience Accolo, a community helping each other find jobs and people for jobs, has been asked to help fill this job. To apply or refer someone you know, please go to: http://members.accolo.com/webapp/orion/public/ReferApplyJob.jsp?ID1=dcdgxy Work on the world's top search engine for mining "intellectual capital" in a high profile Principal Software Engineer position at Verity. As a key member of our Kernel Team, you'll craft novel and elegant algorithms that will turbo charge how we index, store and retrieve data stashed in intranets, extranets and other enterprise goldmines of information. Verity commands this fast growing industry niche and your contributions in this highly strategic position will fuel your own growth in the company. A generous compensation package, and a collaborative, tier-one development team are two additional reasons to join our dynamic organization. For the top performer, this could be an important step on a career path to Chief Architect. Verity is in the exciting business of helping organizations maximize the return on their investment in "intellectual capital." Our software accesses data stored in multiple formats (ASCII, HTML, PDF) and locations (CD-ROM, newswires, intranets). We index, classify, search, and retrieve data for corporate intranets, extranets, and portals; online publishers; manufacturers; and software developers. As our Sunnyvale, California-based Principal Software Engineer, your challenges will be improving search relevancy and maintaining performance as queries soar. Your strategic grasp of information retrieval and knowledge management will overlay tactical skills in kernel level coding, sorting algorithms, XML data handling, process and threading management, and memory/disk management. You will carefully control the compiler, eliminate redundancies in algorithms, and optimize memory and disk caches. On the extreme end, you will uniquely blend statistics and probability theory to research and implement novel search algorithms that outperform the existing one. This road leads into the unknown, but that's always been the path for those who dream of turning lead into gold.
