Research Assistant/Fellow Positions DILIGENT, PENG and REVEAL-THIS Projects Department of Computer and Information Sciences University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK 2 Research position (DILIGENT project, start date: 1 September 2004) 1 RA1A up to £27,989 per annum, full-time, 3 year fixed-term 1 RA1A up to £24,820 per annum, full-time, 2 year fixed-term 2 Research Positions (PENG project, start date: 1 September 2004) 1 RA1A up to £27,989 per annum, full-time, 2 year fixed-term 1 RA1A up to £24,820 per annum, full-time, 2 year fixed-term 2 Research Positions (REVEAL-THIS project, start date: 1 November 2004) 1 RA1A up to £27,989 per annum, full-time, 2 year fixed-term 1 RA1A up to £24,820 per annum, full-time, 2 year fixed-term As a result of funding under the IST Priority of the European Commission's 6th Framework Programme, we are seeking SIX researchers to work on three international R&D projects. The projects aim at applying information access and retrieval technologies to novel environments. In particular: DILIGENT is concerned with integrating Grid and Digital Libraries technologies; PENG aims at defining a flexible, personalised and context-aware system for the gathering, filtering and presentation of multimedia news for news professionals; REVEAL-THIS aims at developing content programming technology able to capture, semantically index, categorise and cross-link multi-platform, multimedia and multilingual digital content. Candidates should have a strong scientific background, ideally in computer science, with experience in research and development with Windows and Linux platforms. Background knowledge and experience in either information retrieval, digital libraries, statistical natural language processing, or relevant related areas is requested.
