See http://nbirn.net The BIRN Software Architect at the Coordinating Center works with each group to tighten integration of the BIRN architectural design that maps the interoperation of all system modules and components. As the BIRN moves from research to production, the SW Architect translates the vision into cohesive architectural design. This job requires an advanced degree in computer science or related field and 5 plus years creating, packaging, and supporting a complex software system. The job will need excellence in communication, leadership, management and creativity and proven ability to Analyze and Act. Expert knowledge of computer internal architecture and design, esp. database management systems, grid middleware, and federated information systems is essential, as is the ability to cooperate in an academic research environment.
