********** LNCS Journal on Data Semantics (JoDS) ************ http://www.springeronline.com/sgw/cda/frontpage/0,10735,5-164-22-14204130-0,00.html http://lbdwww.epfl.ch/e/Springer/ C A L L F O R P A P E R S JoDS is soliciting contributions for its 2005 first normal issue. All contributions dealing with data semantics (see below for more details) are welcome, as long as they meet the high-quality standard that the journal enforces. Schedule July 16, 2004: Call for papers September 30, 2004: Submission of paper abstracts (1 page max.) October 30, 2004: Submission of full papers (20-30 pages) January 15, 2005: preliminary notification of acceptance/rejection April 1, 2004: submission of revised version April 15, 2004: final acceptance/rejection notification May 15, 2004: submission of camera-ready copy July 2005: Publication of the issue ------------------------- JoDS is a LNCS publication series that produces LNCS volumes a few times a year. This journal aims to provide a highly visible dissemination channel for remarkable work that in one way or another addresses research and development on issues related to data semantics. The target domain ranges from theories supporting the formal definition of semantic content to innovative domain-specific applications of semantic knowledge. We expect such a publication channel to be of highest interest to researchers and advanced practitioners working on the Semantic Web, interoperability, mobile information services, data warehousing, knowledge representation and reasoning, conceptual database modeling, ontologies, and artificial intelligence. Topics of relevance to this journal include: * Semantic interoperability, semantic mediators * Ontologies * Ontology, schema and data integration, reconciliation and alignment * Multiple representations, alternative representations * Knowledge representation and reasoning * Conceptualization and representation * Multimodel and multiparadigm approaches * Mappings, transformations, reverse engineering * Metadata * Conceptual data modeling * Integrity description and handling * Evolution and change * Web semantics and semistructured data * Semantic caching * Data warehousing and semantic data mining * Spatial, temporal, multimedia and multimodal semantics * Semantics in data visualization * Semantic services for mobile users * Supporting tools * Applications of semantic-driven approaches These topics are to be understood as specifically related to semantic issues. Contributions dealing with the semantics of data may be considered even if they are not covered by the topics in the list. To submit, please send a .pdf or .doc file (both formatted for A4 paper) to the Editor in Chief: Prof. Stefano Spaccapietra, stefano.spaccapietra-p8DiymsW2f8@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The submission should include an abstract and keywords, and specify which author serves as contact author. Accepted submissions will have to follow Springer LNCS guidelines. _______________________________________________ Please do not post msgs that are not relevant to the database community at large.
