Subject: [Dbworld] Final CFP (Deadline Extended): TKDE Special Issue on Mining Biological Data

IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (TKDE) Special Issue on Mining Biological Data

Due to popular requests, the submission deadline has been extended to July 22nd

Mining biological data is an emerging area of intersection between data mining and bioinformatics. Bioinformaticians have been working on the research and development of computational methodologies and tools for expanding the use of biological, medical, behavioral, or healthy data. Data mining researchers can contribute significantly to the bioinformatics community by developing models and algorithms to meet challenges posed by the bioinformatics research. Some successful examples are, clustering of gene _expression_ profiles, frequent pattern discovery on genome or proteins, selection of bio- markers, etc.

This special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering will provide a forum for researchers to formally contribute to cementing biological data mining as an emerging field. Specially, we aim to solicit high-quality contributions that focus on novel data mining techniques that can be applied to bioinformatics or computation biology area. Topics of interest include (but not limited to):

# Gene _expression_ Analysis
# Sequential and Structural Motif Discovery
# Metabolic Pathway, Regulatory Network, and System Biology Analysis
# Comparative Genomics
# Phylogenetics
# Drug Design
# Proteomics
# Literature Extraction, Text Mining, and Ontologies
