Call for Papers for the Mini Track
"Systems Analysis and Design"

This mini track call for papers solicits research papers, research-in-progress
papers, and panel proposals on systems analysis and design issues and theory in
information systems research. While this is the first year for the Systems
Analysis and Design mini track at AMCIS, we hope to continue a tradition of
high quality AMCIS paper submissions and lively discussion for all IS
researchers concerned with Systems Analysis and Design theory and application.

The mini-track highlights the nature of SA&D, focusing on its essential
importance to the systems development process and systems building efforts. In
light of the relative paucity of recent research-based investigations and under
publicized advances in thinking in the area, this mini-track would provide an
outlet for SA&D researchers engaged in theory development, and those working
toward a more standardized set of concepts which would in turn benefit
researchers, educators, and practitioners working in the area of systems
development.

Recent developments in agile systems including eXtreme modeling and eXtreme
programming are especially important ideas that have already affected the
systems development process. In addition, the move toward Web-based or online
delivery of many business services has also caused many businesses to
re-examine their business process, including the usually costly development of
systems. As to teaching SA&D, many universities continue to teach SA&D from the
traditional process-based perspective, while it seems apparent that in practice
many systems are developed using object-oriented methods and programming
languages. This leads to an obvious dichotomy between what is being taught, and
what business really needs from college graduates.

Relevant topics for this mini-track include (but are not limited to):

Agile Modeling and its Impact on Systems Development
Component Based Modeling
Conceptual Modeling/Information Modeling
Database Design and Management
Electronic Commerce Systems Development Tools and Methods
Evaluation of Modeling Methods and Methodologies
eXtreme Modeling and eXtreme Programming
Impact of Web-based Systems on Systems Development
