Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. more...

Theme of the Workshop
---------------------

Web Information Systems (WIS) use the Web paradigm (and technologies)
to retrieve information from data sources and deliver it to the users.
An important task for WIS is to bridge the gap between a collection
of heterogeneous and dynamic data sources and a group of users with
different preferences using different platforms for accessing the
information. The diversity of Web users makes the one-size-fits-all
approach not applicable anymore.
While in the past developing a Web application typically meant ad-hoc
programming and a mixture of content and presentation design, the
current data-intensive nature of WIS requires a more rigorous
development process.
Design methodologies providing guidelines for the creation of modern
WIS are becoming essential. These methodologies should facilitate
different aspects of WIS design such as conceptual design, hypermedia
design, presentation design, adaptation design etc.
True Web engineering approaches offer designers and programmers a
design framework often based on a model-driven approach, specifying
the different aspects of the complete application design in terms of
different models following the separation of concerns principle.

Goal of the Workshop
--------------------

The aim of the workshop is to provide a platform for bringing
together researchers, practitioners, designers, and users of WIS
to enable a fruitful exchange of ideas in the state-of-the-art of
this field.

Topics of Interest
------------------

The workshop topics include but are not limited to:

* WIS Architectures
* Semistructured Data in WIS
* Methodologies for WIS Design
* Semantic Web Information Systems
* Data Models in WIS
* Web Metadata in WIS
* Query Languages in WIS
* Integration of WIS
* Ontologies in WIS
* Optimization Techniques for WIS
* Mobile WIS
* WIS for Education
* WIS for E-commerce
* WIS Tools and Languages

Paper Submission
----------------

Prospective workshop participants are invited to submit a paper related
to one (or more) of the workshop topics. Papers should not exceed 5000
words in length and should be formatted as close as possible to the
Springer LNCS style http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.
They need to be original and not submitted or accepted for publication
in any other workshop, conference, or journal. The organizers will
oversee a peer-review process for the submitted papers.
Papers should be submitted to wism2004-ek1Qb6IBo2Pz+pZb47iToQ@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
in PDF format.

Publication
-----------

Workshop proceedings will presumably be published in the official CAiSE
Workshop proceedings. Authors of selected papers will be invited to
submit extended versions for publication in the Journal of Web
Engineering (JWE) and the International Journal of Web Engineering and
Technology (IJWET).

Important Dates
---------------

Paper submission 1 March 2004
Author notification 1 April 2004
Camera-ready paper submission 1 May 2004
Workshop date 8 June 2004
