CALL FOR PAPERS

ACM Sixth International Workshop on Data Warehousing and OLAP
- DOLAP 2003 -

November 7, 2003, New Orleans, LA, USA
(in conjunction with ACM CIKM 2003)

Sponsored by ACM, SIGIR, SIGMIS

http://www.cis.drexel.edu/faculty/song/dolap.html

AIM OF THE WORKSHOP

Data Warehouses are databases specialized for business
intelligence applications, and have been rapidly spreading
within the industrial world over the last decade, due to
their undeniable contribution to increasing the effectiveness
and efficiency of the decision process within business and
scientific domains. This wide diffusion was supported by
remarkable research results on the one hand, by the quick
advancement of commercial tools on the other. However,
several issues still need to be deeply investigated and well
understood in order to achieve full maturity for the
technologies employed in data warehousing systems.

Like the previous successful DOLAP workshops held in
conjunction with CIKM, the sixth edition of the Workshop on
Data Warehousing and OLAP (DOLAP 2003) aims to reduce the gap
between the research community and industry practitioners. It
provides an international forum where both researchers and
practitioners can share their findings in theoretical
foundations, current methodologies, practical experiences,
and new research directions in the areas of data warehousing
and OLAP.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

The workshop solicits two types of papers: regular and
industry papers. Regular papers shall address research topics
in the following areas, but not limited to:
- Data warehousing foundations
- Data warehouse architectures
- Data warehouse design
- Source integration
- Data extraction, cleaning and loading
- Multidimensional modeling
- Metadata management
- View materialization
- Physical organization of data warehouses
- Performance optimization and tuning
- On-line analytical processing
- Multidimensional queries: languages, optimization, processing
- Data warehouse consistency and quality
- Security in data warehouses
- Maintenance of data warehouses
- Data warehouse evolution
- Data warehousing and the Web
- Data warehousing and XML
- Data warehousing applications
- Tools for data warehousing and OLAP

Industry papers shall address:
- Data warehousing projects and applications
- Administration tools
- Data Quality
- Maintenance of data warehouses
- Benchmarks
- Experience and lessons
- Tools for data warehousing and OLAP
- Surveys

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Submitted papers should be approximately 15 double-spaced
pages. Electronic submission is highly encouraged
(Postscript, PDF, MS Word, RTF). Full papers should be sent

Papers will be reviewed by the program committee for their
technical merit, originality, significance, readability, and
relevance to the workshop. Authors will receive notification
of acceptance/rejection by August 25. Camera-ready copies of
accepted papers are due on September 15, and will be
published in the workshop proceedings by ACM Press. The
maximum length of final papers will be 8 pages in double
column.
It is planned that selected accepted papers will be
considered for journal publication in a joint special issue
with the best papers of DMDW 2003.
