Workshop on Metadata for Security - CFP: msg#00139db.dbworld
Federated Conference -- DOA, CoopIS, ODBASE 2003 Sicily, Italy November 3-7 2003 WORKSHOP ON METADATA FOR SECURITY Introduction RDF-based metadata have become the cornerstone of intelligent Web-based environments, including knowledge management, e-learning and content management systems. Web-based applications increasingly rely on metadata expressing properties like structure, nature and purpose of network resources, as well as of the users requesting them, in terms of domain ontologies. Also, metadata are playing an important role in semantics-aware multimedia processing. A number of security issues around metadata management still need to be addressed. First of all, innovative techniques are needed aimed at protecting metadata from being disclosed or tampered with, especially in mobile computing environments, while preserving efficiency. Secondly, a new generation of security and privacy models and languages is needed, capable to fully exploit semantics representations. This workshop is aimed at offering to the international research community working on these and related issues a forum where research results can be presented, fostering multidisciplinary discussion on the role of metadata in security research. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): § XML- and RDF-based metadata formats for security and identity management § Semantics representation in access policy models and languages § Semantics representation in digital rights management § Semantics-aware policy enforcement § Metadata for mobile agents security § Metadata for Web services security § Metadata for multimedia security § Security and privacy ontologies § Ambient content access § Secure metadata processing Submissions Papers presenting research results, of 5-15 pages in length, including figures, should be submitted in electronic format (PostScript or PDF) to the Workshop Chair at the address damiani-s2dqJKy1HM8+s48VBgLKIw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Accepted workshop contributions will be published by Springer-Verlag as a part of the Proceedings of the 2003 International Conference on Distributed Objects and Applications (DOA).
