Announcing: msg#00105db.dbworld
We are pleased to announce the release of ToXgene V2.1. ToXgene is a template-based generator for large, consistent collections of synthetic XML documents, and is part of the ToX project, developed at the Univerisity of Toronto. The ToXgene Template Specification Language (TSL) is a subset of the XML Schema notation augmented with annotations for specifying certain properties of the intended data, such as value distributions, the vocabulary for CDATA content, etc. Besides several performance improvements, this second release of ToXgene includes the following new features: 1. Use of a Persistent Object Manager (POM): ToXgene can use a POM for storing temporary data structures that do not fit in main memory. One can customize the buffer management and take advantage of parallel I/O for optimal performance. 2. More built-in CDATA generators: besides the usual TPCH text and gibberish generators, ToXgene allows the specification of: XMark text, email addresses, country names, people's first and last names, etc. 3. Extensibility mechanism for CDATA generators: It is now possible to register new CDATA generators to be used by ToXgene. The code for the CDATA generators is loaded dynamically. The source code for the built-in CDATA generators is provided as examples. We also updated the documentation and provide more sample templates. More information about ToXgene and download instructions can be found in http://www.cs.toronto.edu/tox/toxgene -------------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe or unsubscribe yourself from dbworld, send a msg to majordomo-hcNo3dDEHLuVc3sceRu5cw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx with one of these lines: subscribe dbworld OR unsubscribe dbworld To find out more options send a msg with the line: help To post messages, go to URL www.cs.wisc.edu/dbworld --------------------------------------------------------------------------
