*********************************************************** 5th Workshop on Distributed Data and Structures (WDAS'2003) June 12-13, 2003 Thessaloniki, Greece http://delab.csd.auth.gr/wdas2003 *********************************************************** ORGANIZATION ------------------------ The Department of Informatics of the Aristotle University, in cooperation with the Department of Applied Informatics of the University of Macedonia, are organizing the 5th Workshop on Distributed Data and Structures (WDAS'2003) at Thessaloniki, during 12-13 of June 2003. The main scope of the conference is to bring together computer scientists interested in Distributed Data and Structures. TOPICS ------------ Distributed data and structures are at the basis of modern computer science. Advances in the domain are fundamental to performance and scalability of various types of storage and database systems, as well as to emergence of P2P and of Grid Computing Systems. The WDAS workshops examine the state-of-the-art in the area: - Fundamental Theoretical Advances - Access Methods and Algorithms - Programming Languages - Architecture - Prototypes and Applications - Demos of Prototypes and of new Algorithms for the Management of various Scalable Distributed Data Structures WDAS'2003 is the 5th workshop in the WDAS series. Previous workshops took place in Orlando (1998), Princeton (1999), L'Aquilla (2000) and Paris (2002). The attendance will be limited to 50 participants. Besides of the presenters, requests for participation will be dealt with in the order of the received paid registrations. INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS ----------------------- Extended abstracts, 5 pages long, with original, English-language research contributions not concurrently submitted elsewhere must be submitted electronically at the conference website: delab.csd.auth.gr/wdas2003 in PDF format. Additionally, authors first should electronically submit a paper abstract containing: title, author name(s), abstract, keywords. Submitted papers will undergo a peer review process, coordinated by the Program Committee Chair. A fully electronic review process is being planned. Notification and reviews will be communicated via email. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop and included in the proceedings that will be published by a local publisher and distributed at workshop location. Selected papers will be included in post-proceedings published by an international publisher (e.g. Carleton-Scientific or Springer Verlag). Proposals for tutorials are also invited on topics within the conference area. Tutorial proposals must be at most 3 pages and they must give enough material to provide a sense of what will be covered. Tutorial proposals should be submitted electronically in postscript or PDF format by Monday April 28, 2003 to the address <wdas03-KvxHk+jYVUj33ue98Ry3zlAUjnlXr6A1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>. Travel: Currently there are direct international flights connecting Thessaloniki with Amsterdam, Beograd, Bucharest, Budapest, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Larnaca/Cyprus, London, Milano, Munich, Paris, Prague, Stuttgart, Vienna, Zurich. More international connections are expected to exist during June 2003, since the official EU summit will take place at Thessaloniki. Accommodation: Plenty of hotels exist at downtown Thessaloniki. Limited number of rooms may be available in the guest house of the Aristotle University.
