------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SECOND CALL F O R P A P E R S Data integration in Engineering Special track in 10th ISPE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CONCURRENT ENGINEERING: RESEARCH AND APPLICATIONS (CE'2003) ------------- JULY, 26-30, 2003 Carlton Madeira Hotel, Madeira Island - Portugal www.ispe-net.org/ce2003 Submission deadline (extended) : March 15 th 2003 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outline Engineering activities rely on a wide variety of data sources all over the world and are performed by means of a wide variety of computer-supported engineering systems. Capability to integrate data from various sources, to share data across several tasks, to exchange engineering data between various organizations is one of the key factor for increasing productivity and efficiency of engineering activities. Electronic commerce in the engineering world requires not only that products might be ordered but also that they might be searched and compared by computers systems and that all their technical descriptions be available in computer-interpretable representations. This data integration problem cuts across all the layers of data management: semantic level, schematic representation, modeling and querying languages, data storage and transaction processing. This challenge has to be faced for any kind of engineering information domain: product data (shared digital mock up and pro! duct life cycle support), component data (component libraries and catalogues, B2B e-commerce) and process data (workflow management and CE). The purpose of this track is to bring together researchers, engineers, standard developers and practitioners interested in the advance and application of information integration in engineering Major topics of this track Papers proposing new approaches, survey papers indicating future directions, and papers describing advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques or case studies are encouraged. Contributions on open and standard-based architectures will be appreciated. Papers describing original work are invited in any area of data integration in engineering, including but not limited to the list of topics below that should correspond to particular sessions: · Integration architectures · Data schema integration and evolution techniques · Data sharing · Modeling, querying and exchange languages · Technical ontologies, dictionaries and semantic engineering services · E-engineering and B2B electronic commerce · Engineering component data bases and catalogues PAPER SUBMISSION DETAILS Authors are invited to submit research and application papers, not exceeding 5000 words, representing original, previously unpublished work. Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. Please submit the PDF version of your manuscript to CE2003-fQNkp53SjGE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx indicating the session you want to submit your paper. Details on paper presentation are given on the conference site. This track also encourages demonstration proposals and will reserve a slot of time and an area for them. Demonstration proposals should be focused on new tools concerning any aspect of data integration in engineering. Demonstration proposals must be no more than three pages, and should give a short description of the demonstrated system, explain what is going to be demonstrated, and state the significance of the contribution. All accepted papers will be published as an ISBN numbered book with accompanying CD by A.A. Balkema Publishers and will be printed before the conference. IMPORTANT DATES March 10, 2003 Deadline to submit full papers (special date for this track) March 31, 2003 Notification of acceptance mailed April 14, 2003 Deadline for final camera ready full paper CHAIR Guy Pierra, LISI, ENSMA - France CO-CHAIRS America: John Messina - NIST, USA Gerry Radack, Concurrent Technologies - USA Asia-Pacific: Hiroshi Murayama, Toshiba Corporate R&D Center - Japan Europe: Yamine Ait-Ameur, LISI, Univ.
