Semantic Web for Web-based learning. Implications in the area of information

conjunction with the CAISE'03 conference, June 16th, 2003 
\par OBJECTIVES 
\par The Semantic-Web has tremendous impact on Web-based learning and teaching 
technologies. A lot of Web-based courses and other educational applications 
have been made available on the Web : it is a real revolution in the way we 
teach a
nd learn. Nowadays, there are still many unresolved problems in that area: 
\par \bullet  How to provide semantic interoperability of educational contents 
on the web? 
\par \bullet  How to provide personalized and adaptive learning environments? 
\par \bullet  How to help teachers to produce web materials with web resources? 
\par \bullet  How to produce and maintain in a simple manner web-based learning 
environments? 
\par \bullet  How are the implications on the actor\rquote s information 
systems involved in this process? 
\par \bullet  What characteristics of Web-based tools work well for different 
styles of learning at higher education level? 
\par In this workshop, a special focus will be accorded on the impact of 
semantic web and e-learning on information systems. This workshop intends to 
bring together researchers from various commun
ities like information systems, knowledge representation, e-learning, semantic 
web, information retrieval to discuss and envision solution for future 
e-learning.
