CFP: Enterprise Content Management: msg#00126db.dbworld
Dear expert in the field of Enterprise Content/Document Management, Knowing about your previous work/interest related to this area, I'd like to take this opportunity to invite You to submit your latest research to this rather unique forum of researchers on the content management field. (See the detailed CFP below). Please, (especially in case that you would not be submitting a paper this time) let me know also in case of an interest in reviewing 2-3 papers during the next summer, thus contributing to the scientific quality of the "fresh" field of ECM in general, and this minitrack in particular. "med vennlig hilsen", Tero Päivärinta (co-chair of the ECM minitrack; contact information below) ------- Call for Papers Mini-track on Enterprise Content Management and XML Hawai'i International Conference on System Science 5-8 January 2004, Hilton Waikoloa Village, Big Island of Hawaii, USA Content management in contemporary enterprises concerns a variety of information resources: documents in different forms, databases, and metadata such as ontologies, annotations, and indexes. XML and the web are important technologies used to support both resource integration and distribution. The main objective of the minitrack is to provide a forum for discussing the problems and novel solutions in the management of content in organizations, and for covering the technical and social aspects alike. Enterprise content management combines the technical and contentual perspectives with the social aspects of organizations, including human issues, roles, and business as well as work processes. In a piece of ECM research, multiple of the perspectives may be covered, or one of the perspectives is chosen as the major view to the area: " the technological perspective including the development of new kinds of hardware and software solutions and related standards, such as XML, for the management of content in and between organizations, or " the user perspective including requirements analysis, evaluation of existing or proposed solutions from the point of view of the users, and methods for personalization, or " the process perspective including the analysis and development of solutions to support business processes or work processes (choosing e.g. the approach of CSCW, eBusiness, or ERP), and analysis of the interaction of processes with the content elements, or " the content perspective, including issues on granularity of content, combination of content elements, relationship between content and metadata, modelling issues related to the content, and content on a special application area. Topics Topics relevant to the ECM and XML minitrack include (but are not limited to) the following areas from the above-mentioned viewpoints: " novel applications of XML for content management " content management in work processes and organizational contexts " content management on diverging / converging media (web, mobile, Digi-TV) " text transformations " advances in functionality of ECM applications (content capturing, storage, personalization, internationalization, localization, publishing, document formatting, content configuration management, digital rights management, etc.) " managing multilingual and multicultural content " metadata and ontologies for ECM " role of communicative / document genre in ECM " information security on content management " approaches, methodologies and techniques for the development and modelling of ECM " justification and evaluation of ECM initiatives, investments, and implementations " content management in specific areas like e-business, e-government, arts, or education.
