Database Position at The University of Edinburgh: msg#00031db.dbworld
University of Edinburgh Readership or Lecturership in Database Systems. The School of Informatics is about to invite applications from candidates of international standing for an appointment to either a Readership or a Lectureship in Database Systems. Candidates in all areas of database research are invited to apply. The database group is rapidly building up strengths in issues associated with scientific data, such as provenance, annotation and archiving. It is also acquiring new strengths in data integration, XML and semistructured data. The School of Informatics at Edinburgh is a top-ranked Computer Science department in the United Kingdom. In addition, Edinburgh has recently become host to the National e-Science Center which supports research in all aspects of scientific databases. The School is committed to building up a world-class database group. Candidates should demonstrate a world-class research record and both interest and ability in teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the development of a new research group, to help develop a new curriculum in databases and to be involved in applications such as scientific databases. Candidates for a readership will be expected to demonstrate their ability to take on research leadership role in this group. Edinburgh is one of the most spectacular capital cities in Europe.
