ICALP 2003 Satellite Workshop on Algorithms for Massive Data Sets: msg#00006db.dbworld
Call For Papers WORKSHOP ON ALGORITHMS FOR MASSIVE DATA SETS ICALP 2003 Satellite Workshop Eindhoven, The Netherlands, June 29, 2003 http://www.brics.dk/massive03/ SCOPE AND TOPICS ================ Data sets in large applications are often too massive to fit completely inside the computer's internal memory. The resulting data transfer (or I/O) between fast internal memory and slower external memory (such as disks) can be a major performance bottleneck. During the last decade a major body of research has been devoted to the development of efficient external memory algorithms, where the goal is to exploit locality in order to reduce the I/O costs. The aim of this workshop is to bring together the scientific community formed by the researchers working in this field and the related fields of cache-aware, cache-oblivious, and multi-level memory algorithms, and to provide a forum for the exchange and dissemination of new ideas, techniques, and research. Theoretical and experimental papers are sought on all aspects of algorithms and models for hierarchical memory, including (but not limited to): - External memory algorithms and data structures, including graph theory, computational geometry, combinatorics, strings, data bases, and scientific computing. - Cache-aware algorithms - Cache-oblivious algorithms - Algorithms for multi-level hierarchical memory - Computational models and complexity - External memory applications, libraries, and tools INVITED SPEAKER =============== S. Muthu Muthukrishnan, Rutgers University and AT&T Shannon Labs PROGRAM COMMITTEE ================= * Lars Arge Duke University * Gerth Stølting Brodal (co-chair) University of Aarhus * Erik D. Submissions should be in English and not exceed 10 standard pages. They should be send as PS or PDF files to massive03-Da2NgSEvk8w@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and be accompanied by a text-only message containing: title, the authors' full names, and e-mail addresses for correspondence. Simultaneous submission to other meetings with published proceedings is not allowed.
