Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. more...

Subject: (DBWORLD) ISI-NIS Special Issue on the Application of Natural Language to Information Systems - DEADLINE EXTEN

DEADLINE EXTENSION : February 15th, 2003

CALL FOR PAPERS
French Journal  "Ingenierie des Systemes d'Information"  (ISI-NIS)
Special Issue on the Application of  Natural Language to Information Systems
Scope:
The integration of databases and natural language has been an utopia for a
long time. Nowadays, this is an accessible convergent point on which many
researchers are focusing, mainly due to the large progress of research in
natural language and to the development of new technologies which enable the
storage of really semantic electronic dictionaries. Each aspect of an
information system life cycle may be improved by natural language
techniques: database design (specification, validation, conflict
resolution), database query languages and application programming in the
sense that they use new software engineering research (natural language
program specifications). As information systems are now evolving into the
communication area, the term database should be considered in the broader
sense of information and communication system.
Sharing information is the emerging theme in the trend of Information
Systems. Information is nowadays exchanged as it has never been before.
Shared access to data is expected via the Internet or Intranets. Many
efforts are put in finding new exchange formats such as XML. Inside
organizations, operational data are gathered for common storage in
Enterprise Resource Planning systems. For decisional purpose, legacy data,
external data and operational data are extracted into Data Warehouses.
Gathering and sharing information leads to an explosion of activities like
information retrieval, data integration, data mining and text mining. There
is now evidence that the very tool for dealing with semantically
heterogeneous data is ontology. The Web also serves as a platform for many
distributed applications. This leads to new exciting research directions
such as Semantic Web or Web Mining. All these techniques are tiny related to
Natural Language Processing Techniques.
