Laurie, my first E-mail was full of bad
advise.  I thought a NUL was 
a hex 255.  My bad.  
  
I created the attached NULL.TXT file in a hex editor (EditPad Pro). 
It's a one byte file containing nothing but a hex 00.  Hopefully you
can either open and copy this file's contents or import it into 
DataPerfect to get a usable NUL character.  
 
One potential caution ... NULs are used as string termination 
characters in several programming languages.  There could be 
an issue using it as data if a NUL is a reserved character in 
DataPerfect (or in Forth which I think DataPerfect is programmed 
in).  Perhaps Lew or someone familiar with internal structures 
could comment.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I tried putting an Alt-255 character and the file created by the report actually has a character number 255 (Hex FF) rather than a null.  I tried the Alt-0, and it doesn't do anything, unfortunately. All the Alt-x work, except the Alt-zero.  Does you know of any other way to enter characters by ascii number? such as maybe by modifying the printer map, etc?

down the Alt key and then pressing 2+5+5 (in that sequence)

on your numeric key pad. 

This typed value (displays as a space character) could be
