Paul, Thanks a lot for the excellent report, and sorry for not being reactive at this time. I suspect you get different results because of timers. Carob features pinger threads and timeouts to decide when a controller or a VDB is available. So availability status may depend on the moment. This is just a piece of explanation; not an excuse for the behaviour you are experiencing, which is not normal. Do you have some kind of firewalling between the client and the controllers? If you block the pings, all kind of weird behaviours may happen. Cheers, Marc.
