just as a follow up to my previous post
I rebuilt the java sequoia stuff and all my problems went away (except 1)
here is the output I see now from libmysequoia

now.. I'm not sure why but on my machine the controller actually only 
binds to 192.168.1.2 (my external interface) and not 0.0.0.0 (or 
127.0.0.1) so that is why that test is failing.. this is great news.. I 
can now actually try getting a python handler working with it.
