One reason the Cedar Rapids is not considered "Bike Friendly" is the lack of
"Marked bike lanes and paths" which I think is a pretty moot point. yes we
have a "recreational trail that runs 10 miles through town, but Really we
have a pretty good network of back streets that are suitable for HPVs, but
not particularly for cars. but I find that by using these parallel streets,
MOST of the time, I can get around with no problem! works well!
I also use walkways, pedestrian bridges, alleys, parking lots, school
playgrounds, all sorts of stuff whre a bike can slip through and a car
can't!
