I use a bulb horn on my Greenspeed - this is made for cyclists though I 
have no idea how easy it is to get - my LBS had some in about 4 years 
ago and I bought one - I do see them occasionally is other bike shops - 
it makes a nice sound and is not too load (like ~Air Zonds are - I 
tried one of those and took it off as it was too loud) and find that 
people nearly always turn to see what i am so are able to move to one 
side to let me by.
