Re: [Frame] Headtube bushings: msg#00059culture.transportation.humanpowered.trikes
right you are, My idea was for a tube with bushings on each end and a grease nipple in the middle to load the centre section with grease lubricant. My research shows that there are several sintered bronze options that have very little friction if used properly. the idea is for the mount ('C' shaped section) with the 'top hat' style bushings inserted from the insides of the mount. The tube should fit with little clearance unside the bushed mount and a long bolt to hold the assembly together. The axle is to attach to the side of the pivoting tube at the required angle. If this still needs claification I can illustrate and mail the concept sketches to whomever wants... -----Original Message----- From: henox [mailto:henox@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: October 4, 2005 6:14 PM To: Rob Nielsen; Trike Frames Subject: Re: [Frame] Headtube bushings Subject: [Frame] Headtube bushings > has anyone worked with bushing materials for the headtube bearings? Although you might be able to use bushings for control rods and steering linkage, there is too much friction in a bushing for head tube usage. Maybe if you supply more info the list could supply more help.
