Auditions for Streetcar: msg#00011culture.theatre.stationtheatre
For those of you who are interested, I will be conducting auditions for Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire next Saturday and Sunday (5/20 & 5/21) from 1 to 5 p.m. each day at Grissom Hall Theatre in Rantoul. To get to Grissom Hall Theatre from C-U, go north on Rt. 45 and turn right (the only way you can turn) on Borman Avenue (that is the third traffic light on Rt 45 in Rantoul. It is also where the old West Gate of Chanute AFB used to be for those of you who can remember that far back. Your land mark will be a large Minuteman missile.) Stay on Borman going straight at the stop sign (Borman and Century) and where the road forks (at the flag pole), bear right. You are now on Arends Blvd. At the next stop sign (Arends & Pacesetter), go straight. Almost immediately you will see a blue awning and a circle drive on your
right. That is the entrance to the theatre. You can park on the street or
in the parking lots across the street. You do not have to attend both audition days. We have the two days for the convenience of those who wish to audition, but have a conflict. Should you have a conflict on both of these days, call me at 893-0320 prior to the 20th and we can set up a special audition appointment. You do not need to bring any audition material as readings will be from the script. A nodding acquaintance with the characters of Stanley and Blanche will be helpful, however. We will begin rehearsing shortly after Memorial Day weekend. Until tech week, we will rehearse three times a week. All rehearsals will be at Grissom Hall Theatre. The performance dates of the play will be July 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th & 16th (with the possibility of an additional performance on th
e 13th). Sunday performances will be at 2:00 p.m. All other performances
will be at 8:00 p.m. This is a production by the Rantoul Theatre Group. I will be directing it. Bernie Wolff will be designing both the set and the lighting. Dr. Todd Lykins will act as Producer. Dianne Hirning will be Stage Manager. Your old buddie (with the accent on old), Priscilla, will reprise her duties as Properties Mistress. Come one, come all. I do not know of any other Williams' plays being produced in this area this season. Jim Seay Director, The Glass Menagerie James L.
