Rantoul and Die: msg#00004

Subject: Rantoul and Die

Just got finished reading the vitriol posted about "Rantoul and Die" at the
following web
blog:

http://lastgoodname.blogspot.com/

Pretty brutal stuff. I must say, if this is the sort of treatment a man who's
brought nothing
but positive light and revenue to the Station Theatre gets from a company
member, I can't
imagine why anyone else would come to our city to produce original work.

As my mother used to say, "there's no accounting for taste," and I certainly
agree. If
Springer doesn't care for the play, fine. Write about the play, not about the
hype
surrounding its author. What I don't get is why Springer's devoted so much time
to
vilifying Mark Roberts personally.

Maybe I'll start my own web blog and start attacking Springer personally. Too
cruel. Plus I
don't know anything about him, bad or good. Think I'll just start my own group
-- one for
theatre members who, while they might not like everything that's produced, and
don't
hesitate to say so, at least have the decency to keep to themselves their
opinions about
people personally, insofar as it relates to the work they so successfully
produce.

Take a read.
