Benjamin's Ring: msg#00129culture.studies.general
Dear Culties, I've resisted the impulse to use this list as a personal research consultant, but today I must give in. Recently a colleague asked me if I knew of any scholarship that yoked Walter Benjamin on "aura" and the Japanese and American remake of the film *The Ring* I am not aware of any, but I suspect someone here knows of something or perhaps a work in progress. Yours, Josh -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Believing . . . that man [sic] is an animal suspended in webs of signifi- cance he himself has spun, I take culture to be those webs, and the analy- sis of it to be therefore not an experimental science in search of law but an interpretive one in search of meaning." --Clifford Geertz --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joshua Gunn, Ph.D. Dept. of Communication Studies Louisiana State University 136 Coates Hall jgunn@xxxxxxx :Email Baton Rouge, LA 70803 http://members.cox.net/jgunn2 :Web |
