colonial food in 18th/19th century Asia: msg#00121culture.studies.general
I am currently doing research into the area of english food as eaten in their colonies, methods of preparations, who prepares them and any discourses surrounding the pre or post consumption of colonial meals. If anyone has come across any studies or primary materials or done any research into this area, please do key me in. Thanks with regard to Daniel Smith's query, I can't really point you to a study though you might want to read the writings of such colonial luminaries like Frank Swettenham, James and Charles Brooke. Also, have you read "The Soul of Malaya" ? It gives you a colonialist perspective. Such materials might give you some insight into the history of Malaya and Singapore. ===== http://www.archiveoflearning.net Philo, with twelve yeares study, hath beene griev'd To be understood; when will hee be beelev'd? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
