There is an excellent chapter in "Ingenious: Emerging Youth Cultures in
Urban Australia" (2003) eds Melissa Butcher and Mandy Thomas, entitled
'Hanging out in Westfield Parramatta' pg 102-123 by Mandy Thomas, on the
practice of 'hanging out' with a focus on the body (pleasured, disciplined,
'ethnic', masculine) and it is based on ethnographic and interview material.
Westfield Parra could be understood an iconic symbol of the western suburbs
of Sydney.
