Request for info on PHD programs

Hi--

I am writing to request info on good PHD programs with emphasis on media
studies/pop culture/gender studies and/or critical theory. I realize I can
find basic info on the web, but I want to know the stuff they are not going
to advertise.

I want to find a school:

Where the profs are not primarily conservative/old school.

Where the administration is supportive/will pay their somewhat TA's
decently/regularly/offer health benefits (if that exists!!).

Where the students are more supportive of each other than competitive.

Basically, if have you want to say anything glowing about your program, let
me know.
