RE: riot grrls: msg#00069culture.studies.general
Driscoll, Catherine. "Girl Culture, Revenge and Global Capitalism: Cybergirls, Riot Grrls, Spice Girls," in Australian Feminist Studies. Vol. 14, No. 29, 1999. p. 179. you should also consider looking at what's come 'after' riot grrl stuff, both in terms of guitar bands (erase errata and other great bands on killrockstars) and electronics/punk (chicks on speed, le tigre, cobra killer, peaches et al)... it might even be worth considering the apparent increase (as opposed to 'beginning') of female participation in all genres of music production, and differing approaches (notably some attitudes to equipment - see pinknoises.com, & le tigre website). good luck, jon. I'm looking for a scholarly article suitable for a 3rd year media course http://home.pacific.net.au/~transmit --- You are currently subscribed to cultstud-l as: gcsg-cultstud-l@xxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to leave-cultstud-l-144941Q@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The FAQ: http://www.cas.usf.edu/communication/rodman/cultstud/faq.html |
