Hi In his excellent book "The Information Society" Christopher May suggests that Fritz Machlup's "The Production and Distribution of Knowledge in the United States" in 1962 coined the term "knowledge industries". A reference also worth checking is Webster, F. (1995) Theories of the Information Society. London: Routledge. I know they're not definitive answers, but hopefully will help Danny -- http://www.dannybutt.net > Subject: knowledge economy > From: "Sue North" <snorth.south@xxxxxxxxxxx> > Date: Mon, 14 Oct 2002 09:57:33 +1000 > X-Message-Number: 1 > > Dear List, > > I wonder if anyone can tell me who coined the term "knowledge economy"? > > Thanks in advance, > Sue North --- You are currently subscribed to cultstud-l as: gcsg-cultstud-l@xxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to leave-cultstud-l-144941Q@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The FAQ: http://www.cas.usf.edu/communication/rodman/cultstud/faq.html |
