Re: Subcultural capital in environmental communities: msg#00018culture.studies.general
I don't know if it counts as what you're looking for but Peter Simonson has done some great work on PETA and how they've used popular discourses as well as Dadaist-style shock tactics ("Got beer," etc.) to get their message across. It appears in "Social Noise and Segmented Rhythms: News, Entertainment, and Celebrity in the Crusade for Animal Rights." The Communication Review 4 (2001) 399-420. -Rob Drew --- You are currently subscribed to cultstud-l as: gcsg-cultstud-l@xxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to leave-cultstud-l-144941Q@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The FAQ: http://www.cas.usf.edu/communication/rodman/cultstud/faq.html |
