IFFI (News)   Manthan Ek Amrut...lone Marathi film premier in IFFI
Panaji, UNI:
The story of a housewife, a mass communication graduate with a daughter, who wriggles out of trouble with courage after she fell victim of domestic violence, is what is all about the lone Marathi film 'Manthan Ek Amrut Pyala' which will be premiered in the ensuing 36th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). ''It is based on an emotional journey of all the characters of different social strata through the eyes of Anjali Deshpande, the main woman protagonist in the story,'' says Mrunalini Patil Dayall, the doctor-turned-director of the film.
Talking to UNI at Kala Academy, the main venue of the festival beginning here on November 24, Dr Mrunalini, who entered the film career only six years ago, said she desired to give a message through her film through narrative experiences for lasting impression. Anjali is a soft, gentle and a balanced woman, firm about rights and wrongs of life and became a victim of domestic violence as she moved on to take a job. She is amused and shocked at the plight of other women in different situation but did not realise she too once would face such difficulties in course of life. ''It is very easy giving answers to others but difficult to face problems in one's real life. Anjali learns the art of living and coping with the problems by churning her thoughts to arrive at a positive outcome,'' Dr Mrunalini explained. Produced by Amitabh Dayall through Amruta Films(P) Ltd, a technical branch of popular Mads Media, Mumbai, the film stars Padmini Kolha puri, Milind Gunajee, Vijay Kadam, Asawari Joshi, Suhas Palsekar, Ashalata and Baal Karve among others. The film has got a U certification. Incidentally, she is a member of the Central Board of Film Certication and daughter of Union Minister of State for Rural Development Suryakanta Patil. Asked about the choice of her debut film for the IFFI premier, the unassuming director said the festival committee might have found qualities required for the mega event. She has also produced a Hindi feature film 'Kagaar - Living on the Edge', directed by N Chandra. Dr Mrunalini was now working on two Hindi films for Mads Media.
