Re: CABIN BAGGAGE ON WHEELS: msg#00636culture.region.india.goa
**************************************** For more information/links, see http://goanet.netfirms.com **************************************** George Pinto makes a valid point in discussing the virtue of old 'waitresses' in the air as I consider all stewardesses and their male counterparts. But from my own personal experiences, I have noticed the attitude of old hags on Air India and Air Canada. The are backed by their unions and the problem is not their age but the fact that they cannot be dismissed. On the conbtrary, Singapore and Cathay Pacific employ young stewards/esses on their flights and I am certain that they are removed to positions behind desks at the Airlines. George should understand that selling hamburgers and filling the aircraft with contented passengers as the 2 airlines I have mentioned above are practically the same. Both are on the verge of filing for bankruptcy. I would refuse to travel on an aircraft if my grandmother was a flight attendant or stewardess. I would refuse to patronise a restaurant she worked in. Business depends on presenting the product and not on morality. What is of importance is the balance sheet and the profits an enterprise makes. Edgar Martins |
