There was no country named India when the Portuguese conquered Goa in 1510, so there is no point in saying that at that time "Goa was part of India". The Portuguese conquered it from the Adil Shahi kingdom of Bijapur. It is well known that India as a nation came into existence only on August 15, 1947 when it gained independence from the British.
