Re: PLS DISCUSS: msg#00625culture.region.india.goa
You are absolutely right! The government should ban cigarettes too. It doesn't make any sense of "CIGARETTE SMOKING IS INJURIOUS TO HEALTH" being printed on the cigarette cases & then still selling something that is clearly stated is injurious to health. And alcoholic drinks should be banned too. I doubt this would ever happen though. Politicians themselves like to party & what would their partying be without booze !!! Alcoholic drinks are the major cause of family problems, disruption of peace in homes, health problems & accidents too. I don't think that VAT on alcoholic drinks would discourage people from buying drinks. Addicted men would rather deprive their families of necessities & spend it on drinks. Anyway, I hope the banning of ghutka & paan masala is just one of the issues on the list to start with & then next cigarettes & alcoholic drinks to follow soon after.
