I do know a family (they are personally known to me) in Sto. Estevao, Goa 
with the last name: Ferreira.  Maybe it is not so common but this family is 
very much Goan

I have never heard of Ferreira as a Goan last name.

The surname is common among Bombay's East Indians.
Maybe those who produce the TV show Eastenders are not
aware of it.
