DEATH OF EX KUWAIT GOAN.

With deep regret and sorrow I would like to inform all the Kuwait Goans and 
especially the Goa lovers and Konkani supporters that Agostinho Rebello from 
Verna expired today in the morning at his residence in Goa.  A few days back 
Agostinho Rebello was taken to Bangalore for special treatment where doctors 
after prolonged diagnosis decided to send him back home as it was confirmed 
that further treatment will not help.

Agostinho Rebello during his 20+ years of work in Kuwait with a short break 
in between always associated with Goan causes especially for the promotion 
of Konkani.  A very humble person by nature, he was always eager to give his 
helping hand for any good cause.

Agostinho Rebello was known in Kuwait as one of the best Konkani Stage 
artistes, singing solos and duets in the style of Alfred Rose was his forte. 
 Many of the Tiatro goers  in Kuwait nicknamed him as ?Kuwaitcho Alfred 
Rose?  and as a matter of fact he many times imitated the great Goan singer 
Alfred Rose.  Whenever we organized any Konkani Show for any good cause he 
always cooperated.  Though he died yet his good deeds especially for the 
cause of Goa and Konkani will always remain alive.  About two years back he 
voluntarily left from Kuwait to involve himself in business and as part time 
to promote Konkani Teatro.  However, due to failing health both his wishes 
remained unfulfilled.

I first saw him acting in Konkani Tiatro somewhere in 1977 when he rendered 
a very beautiful solo on Plane Crash going from Bombay to Madras.  That was 
his maiden appearance in Kuwaitat at Keefan Hall  and within short time his 
fame spread everywhere.  He was also a good crowd puller and occasionally 
performed decent roles.  Money was not his greed for acting in Tiatro but 
given he would accept.  Such singers and artistes are rare in Kuwait 
nowadays.  May his soul rest in peace and may God give comfort and courage 
to his wife and his small children, so also to other family members.

On behalf of all my friends, colleagues and like minded Goans who loved Goa 
and Konkani causes I pray for eternal peace for the soul of Agostinho 
Rebello.
