YOU NEVER know what's going on where in Goa. Orlando's home looks like any
other flat. Its in the Four Pillars entrance to Panjim (on the Santa Cruz
end), which was last in the headlines as some of these buildings were said
to have weak foundations build in former fields, which were now sinking.

But what makes his home different is the fact that he runs a
recording studio from this small place.

The other day, we were winding up our usual talk of laments, regrets (over
unfulfilled promises), dreams and hopes. Orlando had just finished talking
about the plight of many Goan musicians (other than those who can make
it big), the reluctance of many to take to the Net and their fear of
'piracy', the need for an infusion of quality, etc, etc.

Just before we wound up -- there's so much to talk, actually
we had to be interrupted by a visitor -- he handed over this
slick bold white-on-black packaged CD titled 'JUST JAZZ'.
It's the live recording of concerts of the team lead by that
doughty musician who never gives up, Colin D'Cruz (bass). The
team also comprises Belinda Oliveira (vocals), George
Fernandez (piano) and Lester Godinho (drums).

For Rs 100, they offer Route 66, Don't Get Around Much Anymore, Girl
