The new service will use state-of-the-art Code Division Multiple Access technology to provide Indians with an economical alternative to relatively expensive cellular phone services. (H) CORPSE SANS HEAD: A mutilated male corpse without the head was found lying near the railway gate at Bhawkai, Mayem, yesterday. The victim has been identified as Ricardo Coelho, a resident of Calvim, Aldona. (GT) YOUTH SHOULD CHANGE MINDSET: The Governor, Mr Kidar Nath Sahani, has said that Goan youth should change their mindset and stop running after white collar jobs but accept any type of work to lead a happy life. (NT) RAIA GROUND: Work on the development of Raia panchayat sports complex will r-commence soon as the Rajya Sabha MP Eduardo Faleiro on Friday issued instructions to the District Collector to start the work, which was kept in abeyance due to the unseeming controversy over the naming of the sports complex after the MP. (H) BENAULIM SARPANCH: Benaulim will finally have a new Sarpanch on New Year Day. The Director of Panchayats has convened a meeting of the village panchayat on January 1 to elect the new Sarpanch. On November 19 last Sarpanch Guilhermina alias Meena Leitao was ousted from office in a no trust motion. (H) BEEF STALLS RAIDED: The Directorate of Animal Husbandry sleuths raided two beef stalls in Mapusa and seized illegal meat being sold there. (NT) BEACH CLEANING: The exercise of collecting plastic and other waste materials from the beaches has commenced much to the relief of the tourists and shack owners. Once again the work of privatisation of beach cleaning along Goa's coastline has been awarded to different parties from 1 December on trial basis. (GT) PANJIM LAD HURT: A 14-year-old lad, Gaurish Umesh Silimkhan, was knocked down by a speeding Tata Sumo near Four Pillars in Panjim on Thursday. (H) MANDO FESTIVAL IN CHINCHINIM: The Chinchinim Mando Festival Committee will organise its 25th Mando festival on 11 January 2003 at the Chinchinim Church square at 6 pm. (GT) ONE-ACT PLAY: Shenoi Goembab 125th anniversary celebrations committee is organizing all Goa Konkani one-act play competition as part of "Osmitai Vors" on January 31 and February 1. The entries along with script in prescribed format are invited by Prince Jacob and Agnelo (Borim), co-convenors on or before January 15.
