GOA IS HEADING THE GUJARAT WAY

The Gujarat election results came as no surprise. Mr Narendra Modi ably
played the Hindutva card to ensure that Gujarat was polarised on communal
lines in keeping with the BJP ideology.

We have seen for ourselves the same game plan played by Goa's Narendra
Modi, Manohar Parrikar during the May assembly elections this year.

No election should ever be held with a caretaker Government in office. The
State should always be under Governor's rule to ensure that there is a
level play field for all contesting parties. This would, to some extent,
ensure that there is no misuse of power and authority.

Panjim make look spruced up and all decorated. But one has to see the
long-term damage being done to Goa by Mr Parrikar brain-washing us with
some cosmetic improvements.

Parrikar has many questions to answer. Why is he stalemating the River
Princess? And why the Government's impotence on the Additional Advocate
General Vilas Thali saga? Mr Parrikar has bowed, bent and hopelessly
stooped to all lowly levels to adhere to his political compulsions.

Dy S. P Shirish Thorat was suspended for allegedly slapping a relative of a
BJP Minister who was allegedly involved in an illegal act. But not very
long ago Tourism Minister Micky Pacheco got away by alighting from his
official car and assaulting a Kadamba Driver in broad daylight.

Its good to know that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and his cabinet
colleagues have gone through the AIDS test and all is okay. The results
would have been definitely positive if they dared go through an
anti-corruption test.

Parrikar is a good spender at the State exchequer's expense. His saving
grace is that he has a moneylender in his cabinet. The person who just last
year Mr Parrikar accused of running the high profile Miramar Sex Scandal.
For now the money lender turned Mr Minister will bail the Goa Government
and if he falls short, the Chief Minister would have to turn to his two
Matka associates within the cabinet to gamble his way around.

Mr Parrikar  is a very sleek operator. He knows where to dangle the
carrots. But he has not been able to hide his communal ideology for too
long. People have started to detect the communal ideology of the BJP. We
can only blame secular people like Mathany  Saldhana, Sheikh Hassan and Dr
Wilfred De Souza and hold them accountable for having played to Parrikar's
tunes and helped him accomplish his evil designs.
