BIOTECHNOLOGICAL METHODS OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION CONTROL

Individual Project
Presented by ST. ANDREW'S HIGH SCHOLL GOA-VELHA

SYNOPSIS

We have undertaken this project to inculcate the sense of
environmental cleanliness among the people and how due
to industrialization and urbanization our environment is getting polluted.

Our main objective to undertake this project is to help out the people
and make them aware of the hazardous effects of environmental pollution,
which may turn out into a disaster in the long run. It is utterly in our hands
to keep our environment clean and make it a place to live a healthy life.

To undertake this project the members of our Science Club visited
the Curca Village. We made a research of the environmental conditions
of the Curca Village. We surveyed the village and found that garbage
from P.M.C.(Panjim Municipal Council) and M.M.C.(Mapusa Municipal Council)
was being dumped on the hilly areas of Curca.

To find its ill effects the samples of water and soil were collected and all
these samples tested positive for acidic nature. The air was also polluted
due to burning of plastic. We have suggested a small method to make
better use of plastic by recycling instead of dumping it in open space
littering the surroundings.

By taking up this project, we the members of the Science Club
of St. Andrew's High School hope that we have contributed in our own
humble way towards preserving our environment.

We hope that the authorities concerned will look into the matter
and work hand in hand to care, share and conserve our environment,
which is our habitation. So lets make it a safe place for living
by conserving our ENVIRONMENT.
