GCS KONKANI PANTOMIME
Written & directed by Mike Alfonso

Christmas is here again, and as part of the British tradition and culture,
Christmas Pantomimes are staged all over UK. Most if not all the pantomimes
are based on Fairy Tales and also include a few Christmas songs. The
setting is just like our Konkani Tiatrs.

The Goan Cultural Society UK will host its Annual Christmas Party for the
cast, helpers and their families on 1st December this year. The GCS
Committee decided to embrace a little bit of British culture, and will
include a Christmas Pantomime in the party. That's not all, the Pantomime
will be in Konkani and will star the GCS Children.

The GCS Committee made this suggestion to the team, and Mike Alfonso of the
legendary Alfonso brothers took on this challenge. Within a few days, Mike
wrote his own version of CINDERELLA.

We had to work fast, time was limited and the children were all busy with
school work, but with the help of the parents we managed to have just over
four rehearsals. Once again our confidence in the Goan children has been
proved. They have a lot of talent and if given the chance, will prove
beyond doubt that hey are second to non.

This first ever Konkani Christmas Pantomime, includes only two adults, Ida
D'Souza as the mother and Johnny Alfonso as Fr. Johnny. The three sisters
are Lucinda Pereira, Caesarea Alfonso and Cianna Rodrigues. Mirose Alfonso
plays the part of Cinderella. The three potential grooms are
Adrian Alfonso, James Fernandes and Sean Furtado. In addition there will be
a sing along of Christmas Carols. Music
will be provided by Chilliboy and Camilo.

There will be a repeat performance for the public at 3.00pm on 7th December
2002 at St Johns Hall, Bourne Hill, Palmers Green, London N13. For tickets
contact: - Ida D'Souza on 020 8881 2921 and Rosy D'Silva on 020 8352 9450.
