Friday Balcao the fortnightly discussion event
to be held on 22nd November will feature Anthony J. Simoes
a researcher on Environmental issues in Goa.

Anthony Simoes based in Calangute has been
involved in research on various environmental issues
in Goa for over a decade.

From the impacts of the Konkan Railway alignment,
Nylon 66, Golf courses, destruction of sand dunes,
to mining impacts and chemical pollution.

He has prepared critiques of  Environment Impact Assessment (EIA)
reports, documentation for Public Hearings, status reports
for fact finding teams as well as base material for
public interest litigation (PIL's).

Simoes will share his experiences in doing research,
the challenges and problems faced in the field,
accessing  Government notifications, undertaking interviews,
and unearthing the hidden vested interests.

Those citizens wanting to participate in the discussion
at Friday Balcao are urged to attend the event.
Friday Balcao will be from 4pm to 6pm
at the Goa Desc Resource Centre
No.11 Liberty Apartments Feira Alta,
Mapusa and is open to  members of the public.
