Hi SaligaoNetters,

From: "Albert Desouza" <alizadesouza-PkbjNfxxIARBDgjK7y7TUQ@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

When I say people in saligao are shortsighted it is true and annette has proved it right when she wrote without her glasses.

Hey Albert, goodmorning! You are wrong this time, I am shortsighted & without my glasses I wouldnt be able to sit at my desk & type to you or to Saligaonet. Hope you have started your week well!

What we need is a change in the modern setup. We just can't look at the computer .........
outdated in the gulf and so we

Yep, yeh yeh yeh! how right! But we are always talking about people & things having to change, but they wont not as long as the machinery is slow & antiquated, I meant Govt. machinery & thinking, figuratively not the PC etc. We could not change things over a period of years, how can one expect things to change quickly now because of modern technology? ... people will always stand in queues to pay their bills, irrespective of the banks, ATM etc.... perhaps because they are not in a position to have access to the internet however cheap the computers are & also perhaps the people's way of thinking & acting doesnt change, .... but those are some of the people some of the time, not all of the Saliganvkars all of the times. So perhaps we need to leave off generalising.

have to upgrade ourselves instead of standing in the que and grumble that the post master is very >slow, and that they have to spend hours and hours and that their legs pain and ache and they .............

Same point as previous para. By the way, the only time I stood outside our Saligao PostOffice was because I wanted to buy stamps, & there was no queue as such, & the person at the counter was quite a nice guy.... like I said earlier ... some people some of the time, not all people all of the time... in every sphere, anywhere in the world. I now await the day when at the click of a key I can get all my Christmas cards franked with the right postage. Oh gosh! I havent written out my cards yet - planning went haywire this year, I've usually posted them by this date.

I'll give you all an example of how things havent changed , what used to be done in 1967 was done even now. Despite umpteen complaints, rubbish & garbage was being thrown outside our back gate in the "gulley" in Donvaddo So the thinking of the people who were dumping took ages to change, the thinking & action of the authorities also took a while but finally everything came to normal, or at least I hope it has, got to check that the next time I call home. A small issue took a number of weeks, can one imagine how many years (light years???) the bigger issues will need? Talking about issues, what's going on at the Salmona Spring?

And my glasses have been on the bridge of my nose since I left the house 3 hours ago & have been there throughout the years since 1967 when we tried to change things - we did a lot of dancing around, circus acts, - Dad did most of that, Mum & I helped with the typing (yes at that time whilst others had to go for typing classes to Mapusa, we learnt the touch system at home courtesy of my mum who was very good at typing ... we had a typewriter at home although we dont have a computer at home now by choice - Fiona's!!!) & we were successful a few times but the rest of the times, nothing changed, our actions were exercises in futility & we then kept a low profile to avoid the police station, ... & all this because we wanted to change things for the better. I for one would not want to repeat those experiences again, thanks a lot.

Have a nice day & an even better week.

Stay cool, keep your cool.

Ciao
Annette
