C# is the proof that Delphi does worth something. 
They used Java syntax with Delphi idea and combined it together... BTW
there is also Delphi .NET as well... 

Since Delphi 5 there where group of components that allowed you to
create the same program you usually do with databases, but make them
as CGI on the web, so you can take an existed gui program and just use
"grep replace" to these components instead of the original you are
using (and without changing any other line of code), and the program
will become a full CGI program. 

Another power to Pascal, that I never found on any other compilers and
IDE based compilers.
