Oregon Petrol-Free Community & Columbian poet & herbalist/healer: msg#00005culture.discuss.our-culture-capitol
[originally intended only for http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.politics.activism.carfreeecovillages But it is now of interest to all of you, because of the poet!] I just updated http://carfreeuniverse.org/Members/colin/HaulOfJustice/ With Ethan's letter to carbusters. Does anyone here have more information on his project? [a petrol-free community (no cars, plastic or electricity) in Oregon] Second, a Columbian poet/visionary has showed up on one of my other lists: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OurCultureOurCapitol/message/70 I think he found out about that list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ecovillage-belize/ I asked him for more of his writing and he pointed me to: http://ylangylang.coldecon.net.co en el link 10. escritos, lorenzo santamaría http://ylangylang.coldecon.net.co/contenidolorenzo.htm y en el link el elixir del amor http://ylangylang.coldecon.net.co/PAGINA%20WEBelelixirdelamor.htm I have yet to carefully read through his message to try to make sense of it (and to pay attention to the sound) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OurCultureOurCapitol/message/70 I have had time to notice that Lorenzo's vocabulary and writing suggest impressive understanding of both Spanish and English and of botany and the ecosystem. It does sound like he's looking for visitors. Given my "vow of stability" http://carfreeuniverse.org/Members/colin/vowOfStability/ It may be a while before I make it there. But many of you... or it seems everybody and his brother is headed to central or south america... (Costa Rica is coming up quite a lot at least: http://puntamona.org/ ; http://artofunion.org/ ). Best wishes, Colin Here's what Lorenzo had to say about "Gobiernompal": When I made the wild insertion, we arrived to a poor people with 1000 inhabitants, whose church was destroyed for the cutting of ten big centennial erythrinas of its yard. The roots dissapeared and the church went down. These persons abandoned this damned land, until I ocuppied it, 40 years later... At the "alcaldía" house, there was a name that meant municpal government, in spanish gobierno municipal, and the apocop of municipal is mpal., so, that instead of writing local govern house (casa de gobierno municpal), and instead of write gobierno municipal, they wrote gobiernompal. Así que llamé así a ese pueblo en nombre de todos los pueblos erythrina: 1. coral tree, erythrina -- (any of various shrubs or shrubby trees of the genus Erythrina having trifoliate leaves and racemes of scarlet to coral red flowers and black seeds; cultivated as an ornamental)
