Re: Re: bush's doublespeak: msg#00473culture.discuss.cia-drugs
FSTV has been running "Orwell Would Roll In His Grave", which features interviews of professors of media and former mainstream news editors, and Michael Moore. Lots of Orwells and Goebbels allusions. Yes, Bush does reverse the meaning of words like freedom and democracy and patriotism and he does employ twisted euphemisms to reverse perceptions of evil to favorable, he does use his grandfather Prescott Auschwitz Bushwhacker's nazi publicity man Goebbels' Big Lie, etc, and that's all doublespeak. Commercial free speech equals news censorship, and de-regulation to allow concentration of media ownership equates to regulation of our speech. That's doublespeak. Abolishing the death tax equates to raising taxes for 99.5% of us. That was Bush's doublespeak. Instead of advocating a farmer and small business estate tax exemption, Bush cynically lied to make it sound as if his exemption for half a percent would lower our taxes. A point made in the Orwell media documentary. -Bob mark urban wrote: > Forget about what the asshole says, just watch what is done in his > name. > > The words coming out of his mouth are meaningless.
