So...
The Annual St Johns Parade - one of the oldest, and third largest
parade in Portland - is this Saturday, May 13th. It runs from noon to
1:30 and the weather is supposed to be beautiful. However, as with
most parades, the St Johns Parade is awfully car-centric. So, a few
of us bikey folks in St Johns wanted to represent in this year's
parade.
The scoop:
The name of our "float" is "Bike Fun!" I'd love to get together a
diverse group of folks to demonstrate what fun biking really is. I'm
thinking costumes, tall bikes, mini-bikes, families, puppets? (the
puppet MoveByBike folks just moved in down the street from me here in
St Johns), etc. The parade starts at noon and goes until 1:30. We'll
probably gather around 11 am.
Email me off-list if you're interested (Alicia Cardenas and a couple
others already have) and I'll give you the details. We're having a
BBQ and such after the parade, so it should be pretty fun. Let me
know.
