Vermont Long Trail: msg#01343

Subject: Vermont Long Trail

I did the Long Trail during 2 weeks last Summer and a large reason for the
total trip cost being under $200 was help from Green Mountain Club (GMC)
volunteers as well as a cheap fair from Greyhound and being able to get picked
up on Mt. Greylock, MA at the end of my hike and beign taken to Journey's End
by an old ridgerunner. I printed out really general topos from the net and
bought the end-to-enders guide from the GMC for a few bucks. I got all of
my advice from people on this list -particularly, Mrs. Gorp and my Trail Mom.
btw- don't pass up the Inn at Long Trail and The Long Trail Tavern as well as
other fine places to get Long Trail Ale ;)

> Yeah, i was raised in VT and spent most weekends on the Long Trail. It's a be
autiful hike, a bit crowded in the summer but spring should be fine. Shelters a
re regularly within a fairly easy day's travel. Best resource is the Long Trail
guidebook from www.greenmountainclub.org. Magickfingers
